I find a lot of inspiration for my work in narratives, specifically folk and fairy tales. Many cultures have variants of a people suddenly becoming ‘wrong’ for one reason or another, such a changelings, revenants, ghosts, wendigos, or other forms of monsters that were formally or mimic humans. Most of these stories usually involve methods of driving out or escaping this humanoid other. The ‘WrongKid’ character was made as a response to this type of folk story, a sort of ‘what-if’ scenario were instead of rejecting this child for deviating from the norm, arrangements were made to accommodate them. This was an initial concept illustration for that character.
